چکیده

Evidence for the self-aggregation of 10(S)-chlorophyll a (= chlorophyll a') in nonpolar solvents has been obtained by means of absorption spectroscopy in the visible and infrared regions. The visible absorption spectrum of chlorophyll a' exhibits a shoulder at 680 nm in aliphatic hydrocar bon solvents and the infrared spectrum measured in carbon tetrachloride contains an “aggrega tion peak” at 1650 cm "1. IR spectroscopy shows, in addition, that the C-10 epimers o f chlorophyll a are both present as monomers in tetrahydrofuran. H owever, in the presence of a small amount of aliphatic alcohol or water, the IR spectrum in tetrahydrofuran at lowered temperatures exhibits an intense, wide absorption band at ~ 1650 cm -1 which was interpreted as arising from the hydrogen bonding o f the hydroxyl group to the C-9 keto carbonyl of the chlorophyll.

Ultrafast photoinduced electron transfer reactions in supramolecular arrays: From charge separation and storage to molecular switches

Photochemical electron transfer reactions on a picosecond time scale have been studied in two covalently-linked donor-acceptor systems. The first molecule is a chlorophyll-porphyrin-quinone triad that closely mimics photosynthetic charge separation by undergoing picosecond electron transfer in low temperature glasses to yield a radical ion pair that lives for 2 ms and exhibits spin-polarization...

Spectroscopic studies of photosystem II in chlorophyll d-containing Acaryochloris marina.

Photosystem II (PSII) electron transfer (ET) in the chlorophyll d-containing cyanobacterium Acaryochloris marina (A. marina) was studied by time-resolved electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy at room temperature, chlorophyll fluorescence, and low-temperature optical spectroscopy. To maximize the ability to measure PSII ET in the intact cells of this organism, growth conditions were...

The electron donor side of photosystem II: the oxygen evolving complex.

The 02-evolving complex (OEC) of photosynthesis resides near the inner side of the thylakoid membrane. Currently, it is believed to be composed of at least four polypeptides: (1) an intrinsic 27-34 kilodalton (kD) polypeptide that may be associated with manganese (Mn) ; (2) a peripheral 33 k D polypeptide, perhaps also associated with Mn; (3) a peripheral 24 kD polypeptide; and (4) a peripheral...

To investigation non-bonded interaction of the [CuF4]2- complex inside nanoring, we focus on the single wall boron-nitride B18N18 nanoring. Thus, the geometry of B18N18 nanoring has been optimized by B3LYP method with EPR-II basis set and geometry of the [CuF4]2- complex has been optimized at B3LYP method with Def2-TZVP basis set and Stuttgart RSC 1997 Effective Core Potential. Also electronic ...
